Nouvel Édition is an independent publishing house and the operator of this website.
These Terms of Use and Privacy Policy explain the conditions that apply when you visit our website, purchase from us, subscribe to our correspondence, contact the house or submit work for editorial consideration.
Throughout this page, “Nouvel Édition”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Nouvel Édition and the operator of nouveledition.com.
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please discontinue use of the website.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
PART I
TERMS OF USE
1. About this website
Nouvel Édition provides information about our publishing house, books, authors, Journal, submissions, projects and related activities.
The website may also allow you to:
- purchase physical or digital editions;
- pre-order forthcoming titles;
- subscribe to correspondence;
- contact the publishing house;
- submit manuscripts or proposals;
- access Journal articles and other editorial material; and
- interact with other services we make available from time to time.
We may add, remove or change website content and functionality as the house develops.
2. Using the website
You may use this website for lawful, personal and legitimate business purposes.
You must not use the website:
- in breach of any applicable law;
- to interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems;
- to distribute malicious software or harmful code;
- to collect information about other users without permission;
- to reproduce or exploit our content without authorisation; or
- in any way that could reasonably damage Nouvel Édition, its authors, contributors or readers.
We reserve the right to restrict access to the website where we reasonably believe it is being misused.
ORDERS & EDITIONS
3. Product information
We take reasonable care to ensure descriptions, images, prices, specifications and availability shown on the website are accurate.
Publishing and production are physical processes, however, and minor variations may occur between photographs or digital representations and finished books. Paper, colour, binding, finishes and other production details may vary slightly between editions or print runs.
We may correct errors or update information at any time.
The inclusion of a product on the website does not guarantee that it will remain available.
4. Prices
Unless otherwise stated, prices displayed on the Australian version of the website are in Australian dollars (AUD).
Applicable taxes, delivery charges or other costs will be displayed where relevant before an order is completed.
Prices may change from time to time. A change will not ordinarily affect an order already accepted by us.
5. Orders
Placing an order through the website constitutes an offer to purchase the selected product.
An order is not necessarily accepted simply because payment information has been submitted or an automated confirmation has been sent.
We may decline or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, including where:
- a product is unavailable;
- a pricing or listing error has occurred;
- payment cannot be authorised;
- we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse;
- delivery cannot reasonably be completed; or
- another legitimate operational issue prevents us from fulfilling the order.
If we cancel an order after payment has been received, the relevant amount will be refunded.
6. Payment
Payments may be processed using third-party payment providers.
Those providers may collect and process payment information according to their own terms and privacy practices.
Where payment is processed externally, Nouvel Édition does not ordinarily receive or retain your complete payment-card details.
You are responsible for providing accurate billing and payment information when completing an order.
7. Shipping & delivery
Delivery options, charges and estimated timeframes will be displayed at checkout where applicable.
Any delivery date or timeframe provided is an estimate rather than a guarantee unless expressly stated otherwise.
Postal, customs, courier, weather or other circumstances outside our reasonable control may occasionally affect delivery.
International customers are responsible for any duties, taxes or import charges imposed by the destination country unless we expressly state that those charges are included.
If an order appears to have been lost or significantly delayed, please contact us so that we can investigate.
8. Pre-orders
Some forthcoming editions may be offered for pre-order.
Expected publication and dispatch dates are estimates and may change as a result of editing, printing, production, freight or other circumstances associated with publishing a book.
If a significant change affects your pre-order, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you using the contact details supplied with your order.
Payment for pre-orders may be taken when the order is placed or according to the payment terms displayed at checkout.
9. Digital editions
Where Nouvel Édition sells or provides digital books, guides, files or other downloadable material, your purchase gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use that material.
Unless expressly permitted, you may not:
- redistribute the file;
- upload it for public access;
- sell or sublicense it;
- reproduce substantial portions for commercial purposes;
- share purchased access with others; or
- remove copyright, authorship or rights information.
Purchasing a digital edition does not transfer copyright or ownership of the underlying intellectual property.
RETURNS & REFUNDS
10. Consumer rights
Our books and other products come with rights and guarantees that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law and other applicable consumer-protection legislation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits those rights where they cannot legally be excluded.
Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a remedy if a product:
- is faulty or damaged;
- is materially different from its description;
- is not fit for a disclosed purpose;
- does not meet applicable consumer guarantees; or
- is not supplied as agreed.
The appropriate remedy may include replacement, repair, refund or another remedy required by law.
11. Change of mind
We are not required to provide a refund simply because you change your mind, except where required by applicable law or where a separate returns policy expressly provides otherwise.
We may choose to accept a change-of-mind return in particular circumstances.
Any returned physical item must generally be unused, unread and in saleable condition unless the return relates to a fault or another statutory right.
Different conditions may apply to limited editions, personalised products and digital downloads.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
12. Our content
Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website is owned by, commissioned by or licensed to Nouvel Édition.
This may include:
- branding;
- photographs;
- graphics;
- page designs;
- typography and visual treatments;
- cover artwork;
- editorial copy;
- Journal articles;
- videos;
- downloadable material;
- databases;
- product descriptions; and
- other original material.
Underlying literary works, artwork, photography and other material may remain the intellectual property of their respective authors, artists or rights holders.
You may view and use website content for ordinary personal purposes.
You may not reproduce, publish, distribute, modify, sell, commercially exploit or create substantial derivative works from our content without appropriate permission.
13. Quotations and sharing
Reasonable sharing of links to publicly available pages is welcome.
Short quotations from Journal articles or other editorial material may be used for commentary, criticism or promotion where permitted by law, provided Nouvel Édition and the relevant author are appropriately credited.
Permission may be required for wider reproduction, commercial use, photography, press assets or extracts.
Please contact the house for rights and permissions enquiries.
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS
14. Submitting work to Nouvel Édition
Manuscript submissions are governed by our current Submission Guidelines as well as these Terms.
Submitting a manuscript, proposal, sample or other creative work does not transfer copyright or ownership to Nouvel Édition.
You retain ownership of your work.
By submitting material, however, you give Nouvel Édition permission to receive, store, reproduce internally and share the material with relevant editors, readers, advisers or publishing personnel to the extent reasonably necessary to assess the submission.
This permission is solely for editorial and administrative consideration and does not give us the right to publish your work commercially.
15. Your responsibilities as a submitter
By submitting material, you confirm that:
- you have the authority to submit it;
- the work is yours or you have the necessary rights and permissions;
- the submission does not knowingly infringe another person’s copyright or other rights;
- information supplied in connection with the submission is materially accurate; and
- any third-party material requiring permission is appropriately identified.
If a literary agent or other representative submits material on your behalf, they must have authority to do so.
16. Confidentiality of submissions
We treat manuscripts as editorial material and use reasonable care when handling them.
However, unsolicited submissions are not accepted on a confidential or fiduciary basis unless we have expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
Nouvel Édition receives and develops many ideas, manuscripts and publishing concepts. Different projects may independently contain similar themes, subjects, titles, settings, structures or ideas.
Submitting work does not prevent us from considering, developing or publishing other work that may contain similarities arising independently.
Copyright remains with the author and our consideration of a submission does not give us permission to copy or commercially exploit the author’s protected expression.
17. No guarantee of publication
Submission does not guarantee:
- acknowledgement beyond any automated receipt;
- individual editorial feedback;
- a response within a particular period unless stated;
- an offer of representation;
- an offer of publication; or
- inclusion in the Nouvel Édition list.
Any publishing relationship will be subject to a separate written agreement.
WEBSITE CONTENT
18. Journal and editorial information
Articles, interviews, essays, recommendations and other material published on the website are provided for general editorial and informational purposes.
Although we aim to publish accurate and considered material, information may become outdated or contain errors.
Nothing on the website should be treated as professional legal, financial, medical or other specialist advice unless expressly identified as such.
19. Third-party websites and embedded content
Our website may contain links to, or embedded content from, third-party websites and services.
These may include video platforms, social networks, retailers, payment providers, delivery services or other external websites.
Nouvel Édition does not control those third parties and is not responsible for their content, security, availability or privacy practices.
Accessing a third-party service is subject to that provider’s own terms.
20. Website availability
We aim to keep the website available and functioning properly, but continuous or error-free access cannot be guaranteed.
We may suspend, change or withdraw parts of the website for maintenance, security, technical or operational reasons.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss arising solely from temporary website interruption or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
21. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nouvel Édition is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising solely from the use of, or inability to access, this website.
Where a statutory guarantee or other right applies and cannot lawfully be excluded, our liability will remain subject to that law.
22. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as our website, publishing activities or legal obligations change.
The current version will be published on this page with the date of the most recent update.
Your continued use of the website after an update means the revised Terms will apply to future use.
23. Governing law
These Terms are governed by applicable Australian law.
Nothing in this section prevents a consumer from relying on mandatory protections available under the law of their jurisdiction where those protections apply.
PART II

A submission may be reviewed by relevant members of our editorial process, which may include editors, readers, contractors, advisers or other publishing personnel where reasonably necessary.
We ask writers not to include identification documents, financial information, medical records or other sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary to the submission.

There may be circumstances in which applicable law permits or requires us to refuse or limit a request. If so, we will respond as required by law.
