ABOUT THE HOUSE
About Nouvel Édition
Independent publishing, carefully considered.
Paris — Sydney
WHO WE ARE
An independent publishing house.
Nouvel Édition publishes books distinguished by strong writing, original thinking and a clear reason for being published.
Our list brings together literature, creative non-fiction, essays and work across art, design, travel and contemporary culture. We are interested in both established and emerging voices.
Based between the perspectives of Paris and Sydney, Nouvel Édition is independent in structure and international in outlook.

Books considered from manuscript to final edition.
WHAT GUIDES US
Four principles that shape the house.
01
Independent by Choice
Independence gives us the freedom to build a publishing list around the work we believe deserves to exist.
Why it matters
We can make editorial decisions with greater flexibility, take chances on distinctive voices and allow individual projects the time and attention they require.
02
Quality over Quantity
We deliberately publish a focused list rather than pursuing volume.
Our approach
Publishing fewer titles allows us to work closely with each author and give greater attention to editing, design, production and the way each book enters the world.
03
A Timeless Approach
We are interested in books with a life beyond their publication date.
Made to last
Rather than responding solely to what is current, we look for writing, ideas and perspectives that remain relevant — books readers can discover, return to and recommend over time.
04
Global Outlook
Nouvel Édition is shaped between Paris and Sydney, but our publishing perspective extends well beyond either city.
Across borders
We are interested in writers, ideas and cultural conversations from different places and perspectives, and in publishing work capable of finding readers beyond where it began.

OUR STORY
Why Nouvel Édition.
Nouvel Édition began with an interest in a more considered model of independent publishing — one that could be selective without becoming narrow, visually aware without allowing design to overshadow the writing, and international without losing a clear editorial identity.
Why we began
To create a publishing house where individual books could receive genuine attention — from the first reading of a manuscript through editing, design, production and publication.
What we believe
That good publishing begins with editorial judgement. We believe in strong writing, close collaboration and design that serves the work. New writers deserve to be considered alongside established ones, and commercial potential should not be the only measure of whether an idea is worth pursuing.
What we are building
A focused independent list with its own editorial identity — one that can develop gradually, introduce distinctive voices and publish books across literature, ideas and culture without being defined by a single category.
Independent by choice. Editorial by conviction.
PARIS — SYDNEY
A publishing house shaped by two perspectives.
Nouvel Édition takes its identity from the relationship between Paris and Sydney: two cities with different cultural traditions, geographic positions and ways of looking at the world. Together, they inform an editorial outlook that is internationally aware and deliberately independent.
01
Paris
Paris represents a long tradition of literature, publishing, criticism, art and intellectual life.
Its influence on the house is not simply aesthetic. It is found in an appreciation for serious editorial work, independent bookshops, cultural conversation and the idea that books continue to occupy an important place in public life.
02
Sydney
Sydney provides a contemporary Asia-Pacific perspective — outward-looking, culturally diverse and geographically removed from many of publishing’s traditional centres.
It brings an openness to new voices, emerging ideas and work that crosses established geographic and creative boundaries.
HOW WE WORK
From manuscript to edition.
01
Read
Every project begins with the work itself. We consider the writing, idea, perspective, structure and intended reader — but above all, whether there is something distinctive at the centre of the project that deserves to be developed.
02
Edit
Selected manuscripts are developed through a collaborative editorial process. The aim is to make the work clearer and stronger without imposing a uniform house style. The author’s voice should remain recognisably their own.
03
Make
Design and production develop alongside the final manuscript. Typography, format, imagery, materials and cover design are considered in relation to the work, creating an edition that feels appropriate to the book rather than simply applied to it.
04
Publish
A finished book needs more than a publication date. We consider how each title is positioned, presented and introduced to readers, with the aim of building an audience around the work rather than treating publication as a single moment.
